Combating Gender Inequality through Girls' Education Beyond Primary Level

The girls who have not had the opportunity to complete their education at least to the secondary level are actually denied the right to realize their full potential. These girls neither had a great childhood nor can they have high hopes about their future. Rather they are extremely vulnerable to violence and abuse. Their future is marred with early teenage marriages, teenage pregnancies, large family size with very unsafe spaces between children, malnourishment and domestic violence.

This program is about working with community and the households (HHs) to ensure that all the school going girls are attending school beyond primary level. The expectation is that the girls and their families will not be in the need of external assistance, once they have completed the education to the secondary level. It is a level that helps girls to grow physically and intellectually to protect themselves from very many abuses, violence and violation of their rights. In the mean time girls are provided with life skills sessions and self growth workshops for their empowerment and realization of their rights. Also they are organized in groups to work together for helping themselves.
