Bedari provided training to 35 female health staff including lady health workers, lady health visitors, and female staff of Basic Health Units and Rural Health Centers in district Vehari (Punjab, Pakistan). It was aimed at facilitating them on providing youth friendly health services to young girls.
It has been observed that young girls especially in their teens usually have serious health issues especially sexual and reproductive health problems, but they do not consult the staff of healthcare centers because of many issues including unfriendly attitude of the health staff.
The training was conducted under a project of Bedari, titled “Building Child Marriage Free Communities”. It was a participatory session where the health staff shared their experiences regarding youth issues with Bedari. Furthermore, they also talked about their limitations in providing youth friendly services and understanding of key issues. This was an informative and healthy session where high participation was observed.
Health practitioners were happy, and shared that such training was highly needed. Bedari assured them that we would be working in coordination with them, and would extend our support as per their needs.
