Bedari staff attended PCF8 (Pan-Commonwealth Forum) conference and launched its documentary, “A Tale of Two Marriages”, under the project, GIRLSInspire. This conference was held from 27-30th November, 2016 at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. PCF8 is a platform where Commonwealth community can exchange their experiences. This platform helps in bringing together people from various countries/backgrounds. People share their experiences, lessons learnt, and the way forward. People can make connections, learn from others’ experiences, and share their own successes.
Three major activities were held at the event; presentation of the documentary, developing a history wall and marketplace. The documentary was launched by Ms Asha Kanwar – the President of Commonwealth of Learning. It was very well received by the participants, and many people asked for its DVDs. A good number of DVDs were sold in the marketplace as well.
The development of the History Wall was an interesting activity. Mr. Kutal De from Mann Deshi led this exercise. It helped put things in perspective, and have an overview of the project quickly. Bedari presented its IEC material at PCF8 Marketplace to promote open learning for women and girls’ education.
Bedari has learnt new ideas and shared its experiences with other members of the Commonwealth. It would be implementing its learning in the areas where it works.
