Bedari
held a three day theatre training workshop from the 4th to the 6th of August
2008. The workshop was held at the Bedari office in Islamabad and was attended
by 8 people. The Communications and Advocacy Manager of Bedari (Mr Safeer Ullah
Khan) acted as the trainer. The participants went through a variety of
activities aimed at improving communication skills, breaking inhibitions,
decreasing body stiffness, using theatre in awareness raising campaigns,
understanding the basic concepts of theatre and acting and increasing
confidence. Examples of activities include various role play exercises, team
building and improvisation.
The feedback received from the participants was unanimously positive.
Most of the participants were of the view that the time was short and it was
suggested by the participants that the time for the training should be increased
by at least two days. It has been suggested that the participants should be able
to give a short performance at the end of the training.
Bedari has taken these suggestions seriously and would incorporate them
in its future training programs.
