Iqra Munir’s elder sister had to leave her school when she was in class 7. Soon she got married. More or less the same future was expected for Iqra as well. Her father had died a few years ago. She was also in class 7 when she dropped out of her school as the family could not afford the cost of transportation to and from the Secondary School. However, she did not have to stay out of school for long.
Girls’ Post Primary Level Education Project started at the right time for her. She joined in and started going to school again. She was behind her class, but she managed to catch up, and passed her annual exams successfully. She helps her mother in tending the cows at her home. They sell the milk to earn a few bucks. Now she is in 10th grade. She is wants to continue her education even after secondary level.
When asked what difference this project had made to her life, she replied, “Well, I would have been raising my kids as my elder sister is doing”.
