Two dignitaries – Samira Al-Zawaini and Ismene Stalper – visited Bedari’s partner communities in Chakwal. They were representing Plan the Netherlands. Bedari is a member of Child Rights Alliance, which is doing a project ‘Girl Power’ in 10 countries of the world including Pakistan. Bedari is implementing this project in Pakistan along with other alliance partners. They met with people in the communities to get a picture of the status of women and girls in Pakistan with special focus on girls’ education. They met with community members, social activists especially those working for women rights, and girls studying in schools. It provided them an opportunity to interact at the grass roots level with the communities, with the women victims of violence, and the people who are struggling for women’s rights. They got first-hand knowledge of the hardships being faced by volunteers and the violence and discrimination women and girls face in our society.
