Bedari organized an awareness session with parents & young boys of Basti Ram Sawan. The purpose of the session was to discuss the consequences of child marriage and brief them about Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) issues. People in the area were uneducated and unaware about their health conditions and these issues. 23 people participated in this activity.

The participants were briefed that boys and girls who marry before the age of 18 are less likely to complete primary/secondary education and are more likely to experience unwanted pregnancies, violence, serious and life-threatening health problems, and remain poor. They were told about the problems child marriages bring to the girls, boys, their children and their families as well. The activity was conducted under Her Choice Project with support from International Child Development Initiatives (ICDI).

SRHR related issues were also discussed. The participants were told that every young girl or boy face difficulties while growing. It has been observed that young boys especially in their teen age come across serious health issues like sexual and reproductive health problems, but neither they discuss with any one nor visit any health care centers due to unfriendly behavior of staff and community as well. Therefore, we need to create youth friendly environment for them so that they can share their problems with ease and get proper guidance on time.
