This training was conducted in Dakar – Senegal from April 6-16, 2016. There were 22 participants from 17 countries of the world. All of them are working on different social issues in their respective countries. This training provided an opportunity to participants to share their knowledge, experiences and culture with other participants of the training. Training was facilitated by Mr. Gannon Gallespie and Mr. Birima Fall.

Through this training participant learned about Tostan’s approach for empowering communities through skills and knowledge. During the field visit, participants met with people who were running health centers, poultry farming, and a woman who was selling solar panels.

Participants learned about establishing Community Management Committees and working in communities through these committees for positive change at large scale and for long term impact. Training was helpful for knowing different approaches to change harmful social norms and traditional practices for example using approach of more girls in schools to save girls from child marriages.
